Health Informatics Specialist

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Active part of the IT team and Technology Committee. Participates in all IT functions including troubleshooting technology issues from staff; providing education regarding agency technology and clinical applications; contributing to EMR and interface modifications and builds, creating, modifying, and archiving reports and analytics as requested.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To ensure quality and compliance with state and federal regulations for all technology systems in use at the Agency.

• Is a member of the agency Technology Committee
• Is a member of the IT team, assisting in overall agency technology efforts representing the needs of each Cornerstone service line.
• Works with clinical, IT team members, Manager and Directors in evaluating workflows that impact clinical users.
• Takes part in Project Management for clinical systems and/or technology related projects as requested.
• Interacts, assists, and collaborates with Directors to advise and identify technology opportunities specific to each department as requested.
• Participates in all technology related endeavors including but not limited to:

1. Computer Systems: ensures the proper functioning of the computer network, assessing and troubleshooting problems through use of IT systems vendor, consulting with hardware and software representatives when necessary, installing software, ensures backups process with vendor and assuring/providing regular maintenance of the workstations and printers. Establishes and maintains disaster recovery procedures.
2. EMR and Clinical Applications: assists in the development of health information systems that support the collection, sharing, standardization, and integration of healthcare data.
3. Hardware Configuration: installs and configures HW/SW on new and existing computer systems not covered by vendor. Works with IT Team to ensure vendor is updating systems in a manner that promotes availability, reliability, and sustainability.
4. Data Security: as directed by Operations Director and the IT Manager;
5. Phone System: Works with IT Team to ensure maintenance of the telecommunication system, working with vendors to assure proper functioning and cost effectiveness.

1. Performs end user troubleshooting and maintenance of the system.
2. Keeps system configuration and phone list documentation current.

1. Training: Participates in training staff on all health information systems, devices, telecommunications, and security. Provides ongoing training of staff, offering advice and assistance on how to use software and complete projects most efficiently within the scope of current hardware/software availability.
2. New Systems Appraisal: confers with all users to evaluate requests for enhancements using cost, time, feasibility, and system impact as criteria in prioritizing implementation.

1. Participates in research of new computer software/hardware to keep current with advancing technology and to assure efficient agency operations.
2. Participates in equipment selection, prepares the necessary data for bids/proposals and coordinates installation of new hardware/software determining electrical and space needs.

1. Reports: Creates, generates specific reports as requested especially for statistical analysis, to include close coordination with Finance Director on all required IT cost data.
2. Documentation: documents procedures for operating all systems, telecommunications, and security systems.
